What is it?
A multiplatform tool that allows you alter and edit photographs with a variety of tools.
Dedicated iPad and Android apps.
When #NoFilter is not an option, Snapseed gives you a wealth of fine tuning and tweaking options for all your digital images. Whether is it creating a moody haunted forest with the grunge setting or a dreamy landscape with the GlamourGlow or Retrolux filters. You can change images to almost infinitesimal degrees using the simple slider interface.
Open your image and you are presented with 13 individual tools. Some are simple crop or rotate tools. Others allow you to change the colour curves of an image to affect individual elements of colour.
There are also 12 preset filters that instantly add dramatic effects to your image such as automatic lens blur, addition of a grainy film effect or vintage which can turn any image into a faux Victorian Albumen print.
Images can be saved over the originals (whilst still being able to remove the effects applied if needed) Save a copy of the file (also editable and keeps your original file safe) or exported as a new file with permanent changes. This last option being ideal if you then want to upload your image to a learning platform or social media.
Finally of you have any less than flattering photos, Snapseed contains a face option that allows you to edit the skin tone smoothness and highlights of an image, automatically detecting faces. This is ideal as an introduction for pupils into how images are doctored in magazines and online and a critical part in their understanding of the importance of evaluating digital content.
