Learning Ladders
An award-winning pupil led solution which puts your curriculum at the heart of the assessment. Learning Ladders is flexible to your curriculum and assessment needs, and provides meaningful information to support the whole school community, from teachers and SLT to parents and governors.
Driven by formative assessment, pupils take ownership of their learning and are aware of their individual next steps. Teachers can record progress online, view gaps in learning and use all of the Learning Ladders features to inform their teaching and planning.
Your curriculum, your way
Completely flexible to the curriculum you follow, schools can choose to use our curriculum statements or adapt and create their own. All Learning Ladders members can use the curriculum designed by Hiltingbury Junior School, recognised by the DfE's Assessment Innovation Competition 2014. The ladders are derived from the National Curriculum 2014 for Years 1-6 and are broken into pupil friendly 'I can' statements ('rungs') making your curriculum manageable for every pupil.
Start an assessment conversation with your whole school
Formatively assess the curriculum statements you have chosen to use by recording progress within Learning Ladders. Simply and easily note assessment whilst instantly viewing pupil progress, gaps in learning and individual next steps. Upload evidence to support your assessments and share this with parents.
Use your assessments to support your teaching and planning, and recognise your pupils’ gaps and next steps. Rather than data for data’s sake, Learning Ladders enables you to make informed decisions for your pupils using our analysis tools.
Engage, support and inspire your pupils’ parents
Ladders at Home is the parent portal to Learning Ladders, which enables parents to view their child’s progress across the curriculum that your school has created and view a portfolio of their classwork. Ladders at Home provides parents with an extensive bank of curriculum articles and resources written by classroom teachers, to help them support their children at home.
"As a head it ticks all the boxes. Children have ownership of Learning Ladders; it’s pupil centred, it’s all about outcomes and it ensures home and school are working to the same goals."
